What to do with a damaged car?

I was in a car accident in NY my car was totally damaged. I can still drive it a little but the rims have fallen the tires are damaged. What do I do with this damaged vehicle? Do I have to take it to a junk yard myself? I can't find the answer I have not yet spoken with the tow truck driver besides him telling me to pick it up tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

If your insurance company is done with inspecting your vehicle, and have given you the approval to do what you want with it, then you can contact some wrecking yards that will buy the vehicle from you and pick it up….in Calif, we have places called pick a part others that are in that business. The vehicle may be repairable also, so that is why I suggest waiting until the ins co has their final say so

If the car is insured you sign the title over to the insurance company in return for the check and you're done. They take it from there. If it's totaled and not insured a junk yard will pick it up. Call a few and get offers for it. Some pay more than others. If you can drive it in you'll get more for it than if they pick it up.

go on line to The SPCA website or Kars 4 Kids website and the will take it as a donation. They do the DMV paperwork and come tow off the car. You get a receipt for up to $4900 tax deduction to a charity.
But give it to the needy animals SPCA first, they can really use the money
