Question about restoring an old vehicle?
JessicaJack asked:
I have a 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and I need to replace the headliner. The original backer board is beyond repair and cannot be used or traced and I have had NO luck finding them at junk yards. I also haven't been able to find a restorer in my area who does this kind of work. Does anyone know how I can make a headliner backer-board from scratch, or have any ideas here? I am fairly crafty with tools, I have help and am willing to spend the money. Any advice or Information would be a huge help. Thanks!!!

I would suggest using carboard to make a template, then tracing it onto a piece of masonite (more flexible then plywood). You can use spray contact cement to attach whatever fabric to it you want
