My own vehicle design

Hi, I was thinking if I could design my own vehicle out of parts I already have could it be possible to make this and have it approved?

I was thinking along the lines of a Chevette with the back removed and a truck bed in it's place or some kind of Truck/Car thing….Seeing as how I have pretty much everything I need to make it happen sitting in my dad's junk yard.
I'm a pretty creative guy and of course I would make everything work for it such as all the lights and signals, and whatnot.
So could I get it approved somehow if I built it taking all the safety regulations into consideration that it would need to be street legal?
I live in Canada by the way. Nova Scotia to be exact.

Check with your state or province DMV but if you start with a legal Chevette and retain all the lights/side lights etc, safety and pollution equipment that was required for that model year-( don't violate height/width restrictions) it is still just a Chevette albeit a pickup. I just recently saw somebody built a 1950's vintage dirt sprint car and was able to get it licensed for street use.

i see why not as long as everything is approved for it to be safe for the others around and in the car and everything works and that parts are sure not to fall off…try it get creative your idea sounds good and if it does not get approved you still have the good feeling that you made something and you can still ride around in it as long as your sure its safe(just don't get caught) lol

I am a car hobbiest myself, as long as you keep the essentials, motor, tranni, carb, all compatible everything else should be fine, my dad owns a tow yard so us boys kinda do the same thing.

There is a thriving business where they take the front half of a vehicle that was rear ended and the back half of a vehicle that was front ended, and weld them together, to sell as a used car. So there must be a way to get a title for it. It might just be the title for the front have, since that has a VIN and an engine ID.
