Apparently it's right, if the sheriff just left your home with orders to remove the vehicle. When I lived up north, our city had a junk car ordinance too. A city full of junk vehicles can be a real eyesore. I'd sell it be rid of any future visits from the sheriff. It's not doing the vehicle any good just sitting there.

There are a host of safety and health reasons to abate junk vehicles from property. In my state there are abatement programs just for this kind of thing. I imagine the same is true where you are.

An unregistered, disabled vehicle has obviously attracted the attention of a code enforcement officer, and they will continue to visit your property until you remove the vehicle. It's best to have it removed. Most areas have companies that will tow away junk vehicles for free. Or you could place ads on some free classified sites to see if someone will buy it.
