Can they tow away my vehicle and?

They = towing company hence they tow it away..
Vehicle was paid in full…it was towed away by a towing company.
The car was not driveable and sat in front of my house for a year. I have NO idea why it was towed away. I had paid it off in full two years prior.

Probably; depending on who theyare.
SOMEONE ordered the tow. Lien holder; city or county government. A tow company didn't just show up and pull it out. The issue is WHO ordered the tow. Sounds like maybe the plate/registration/inspection had expired and the city/county ordered it towed. IN which case, yeah, you're screwed.

Assuming you're talking about your lender, that's perfectly legal. The towing and auction didn't cover what you owe on the car. They're legally entitled to what is known as a deficiency judgment. Happens all the time.
And yes, the towing company can do it to. If you still owe towing and storage fees, they can get a judgment for that amount. Happens all the time.

A disabled, unregistered car on the street (and in some instances in your driveway) is illegal in many municipalities.
So they tow it. Then you have to pay for the tow and the storage – which you admit you did not do because you didn't want the care anymore. They have a right to recoup their costs – you should have gotten the car, had it towed to a junk yard, and been done with it.
It is not the tow company or the cities responsibility to dispose of your unwanted car.
