Other than auctions, go to the HUD website as they have links to other gov't agencies where boats, etc have been seized.
Another thought: advertise in your local American Classifieds or Nickel type of paper. People who have a junk vehicle might be thrilled to have it towed away. (If you're not parting out – make sure to get the title)

Ebay or other online auction is probably the best but make sure that you understand exactly where the vehicle is. One of my associates recently thought that he was buying a car that was in Washington state and it turned out to be in England. The freight is much more than the value of the car. I say this because I know what price range he buys in.
Also check with a few government agencies to see if they have any unclaimed vehicles for sale. Customs seizes lots of vehicles. You should also check with your local police department. Frequently you can get vehicles that have been abandoned. When they catch a major theft ring there are always dozens of items that are unclaimed that they have to sell off cheaply just to get rid of them.

The problem is NOTgetting the vehicle running again!
The PROBLEM is that unscrupulous people have sold them again, wihtout disclosing, and, discounting for the problems that will occur down the road, and this is just for cars! Some actually 'fall apart' only weeks later, if contaminated by salt water, like in N.O. and the Gulf after Katrina!
So, the STATEs are forcing the total destruction and recycling of water and accident salvaged vehicles that are at or above the 40% of worth damage! You can only acquire them, as a certified SCRAP dealer, and with the certificate and bond that you will destroy them entirely.
Sunk, or damaged aircraft need an FAA waiver to ever fly gain, even as parts in other planes, or as a 'rebuild'. Tons of money are involved, to pay for all the mechanical engineers who will inspect and sign their lives on the dotted line, that no one will ever be injured in them! Gotta be crazy, or very needy of money to do that!
Boats? Already a dime a dozen, USED, when you know where to look! Think about it, a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into and, it is for PLEASURE, so when it breaks, the pain begins!
The two happiest days in a boat owner's life are the day he buys it, and the day he sells it!
Besides, you are too damn enthused in your fantasy world to make any good decisions about money…

Now THINK about it. Anyone who truely knows the in's and out's of where to buy, what prices to pay, cheapest shipping or transporting etc.,…….would obviously be someone who's already doing it….RIGHT? Then tell us please,…. why would they want to share this valuable knowledge and information that took them their time and money to learn. Do you seriously expect them to share all this information that they learned the HARD way FREELY to YOU? Would this be to their advantage to tell YOU and open the right doors for you? What's in it for THEM to tell you?…..more competition?
You wanna know? Get off your @ss and do the homework, and the time it takes to study, and work, learn it the hard way….like everybody else!
